When Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore set out to reimagine their workspace, the vision extended far beyond a traditional office environment. The goal was to create a flexible, inspiring destination that supports collaboration, creativity, and hands-on learning for both staff and the young leaders they serve every day.
Partnering alongside Newmark and Rockford Construction, Custer helped bring that vision to life through thoughtfully designed environments that encourage connection, innovation, and community impact. The new space includes a variety of purpose-driven environments, from the main office area to immersive collaboration zones like the Dream Lab campfire space, STEM zone, and podcasting booths. Each area was designed to support different ways of working, learning, and engaging — giving staff and Girl Scouts alike the flexibility to focus, create, and collaborate in meaningful ways.
Featured solutions throughout the space include Steelcase Answer workstations, AMQ height-adjustable desks and Revi storage, along with Grand Rapids Chair Co. Sherman Chairs and Rambo Tables. Together, these products create an adaptable workplace experience that balances comfort, functionality, and durability.
What makes this project especially meaningful is the personal connection behind it. Custer’s own Nikki Nordjford serves as a board member for Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore, adding another layer of community investment and shared purpose to the partnership.
