Making a Statement with New Grand Rapids Office

When partner company FASTSIGNS® set out to create a new workspace, the goal was to build an environment that reflected their brand while supporting the way their team works every day. They partnered with Custer to deliver a cohesive, functional office through a full-service design approach, from initial space planning to the final finishing touches.
Custer led the design process, collaborating closely with the FASTSIGNS® team to create a workplace tailored to their needs and culture. Our team provided comprehensive design services, including space planning, finish selections, furniture specification, and accessory selections. We also designed a custom reception desk in partnership with DCC and developed the design concept for the café kitchenette, which was executed alongside Pioneer Construction.
Collaboration played a key role throughout the project. Working alongside Pioneer Construction helped ensure the project stayed on schedule, while coordination with partner company CS Erickson resulted in seamlessly integrated power and AV solutions for conference room tables, displays, and height-adjustable workstations. Custer's Flooring team partnered throughout the finish selection process and completed the installation of carpet and luxury vinyl tile, creating a cohesive experience from floor to ceiling.
The furniture package balanced functionality with a clean, modern aesthetic. AMQ workstations provided flexible, ergonomic solutions throughout the office, while FIVE (THREE H) conference tables anchored each meeting space. Steelcase privacy walls and storage solutions added organization and visual separation where needed without sacrificing openness.
The result is a workspace that feels intentional in every detail—from the custom reception area that creates a memorable first impression to thoughtfully designed collaboration spaces that support both employees and visitors.
